Vision & Values

Oikos’ vision is to provide leaders and their organisations with the most innovative and powerful services possible – to stand the best chance of supporting truly progressive, transformational change in our most talented leaders, across our most influential institutions – in service of a sustainable future.

Oikos aims to grow as a network of multi-disciplinary, leading-edge providers, capable of helping to deliver bold, whole-system, institutional change via multiple channels and dimensions.

Its uniqueness will derive from the integrated nature and ‘change potency’ of its services – along with its ability to meet you, the client, wherever and however you may currently be. Oikos’ ‘change potency’ will derive from the range, depth, subtlety and rigour of its processes. It is not intended for the faint-hearted.

Such uncompromising commitment to work that has both ‘breakthrough’ qualities and an ability to nurture subtle potentials amidst very complex systems is nourished by the following values.

Values

I have learnt that there are a number of paradoxes that arise when trying to catalyse and/or lead radical change. My aim is that they should be fully honoured in Oikos’ work:-

  • To unlock the greatest energy for change into the future requires deep acknowledgement of how things actually are, now. For some, this provokes great anxiety – and then many ensuing emotional reactions. And yet, facing ‘the truth’ is rarely as dreadful as anticipated: in fact, it makes available precisely the energy required to produce meaningful change...
  • To be effective ‘globally’ i.e. across a substantial span of life, requires considerable attention to be directed ‘personally’. Some may frame this in terms of developing ‘presence’ i.e. through increased self-knowledge and awareness, one is able to become increasingly aware and subtly potent in one’s relationship with a wider field;
  • Disproportionately large effects may be produced by very small - though precise and well-mediated - interventions. I have experienced this personally, not just through my change consulting practice, but also through training in the astonishing art/science of homeopathy;
  • To access the creative potential required to respond adequately to these challenging times, is not simply about ‘ascendant’, or spiritual, moves towards increasingly refined understandings and capabilities; it also requires ‘descent’ i.e. ‘soulful’ moves towards our depths – to what is repressed, confused and incoherent. This relates to the first point, above.
  • Focusing in on specific issues/objects/desired outcomes requires the laser-like attention of a scientist; and yet, the more expanded sensibility of ‘the artist’ often enables something more powerful to result from that attention. Oikos is interested to work with post-rational sensibilities – honouring, for example, non-linear and embodied forms of knowing, and supporting the development of new human senses and faculties.

“Outstanding – I’ve not seen any other session with such power to move everybody somewhere new.”
